22 PUSHES THE BOUNDARIES OF HUMAN PHYSICALITY WITH THIS STIRRING AND POETIC PIECE THAT SHOWCASES THE DANCER'S ATHLETICISM.
The season kicks off with a tribute to our veterans with a work that will stimulate audiences with innovative, thought-provoking and athletic performances. Former company member, Natalie Anton’s 22 takes a departure from ballet norms with a dramatic story that examines the complexity of human morality through a combination of ballet and narration. Named for the rallying cry "22toomany" and to bring attention to suicide rates among our veterans specifically those who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. 22 is meant to bring awareness to all affected veterans post 9/11. The ballet’s libretto will come from personal stories, testimonies and interviews solicited from veterans, their family members and friends. The ballet will be presented in three sections; "Before," "During," and "After". 22 pushes the boundaries of human physicality with this stirring and poetic piece that showcases the dancers’ athleticism.
